Hello, I'm Nthenya Schroeder, and East African safaris are the heartbeat of my soul. I spent my early years alongside my mum, Anna, immersed in the magic of the bush—experiencing its wildlife, landscapes, and rhythms in a way few ever do.
A pioneer in post-independence Kenyan bush aviation and tourism, my mother instilled in me a deep appreciation for conservation, intentional travel, and a style of hospitality defined by authenticity, discretion, and respect for the land and its people.
Over the past four decades, I’ve had the privilege of learning from some of East Africa’s most respected guides, conservationists, and communities. That access and insight now inform every journey I design—grounded in authenticity, defined by detail, and elevated by trust.
Why I Founded Safi African Adventures
There is a quiet distinction between travel and true experience.
The African savannah remains one of the last places on Earth where nature unfolds on its own terms—vast, unfiltered, deeply moving, and profoundly beautiful. To explore it is a privilege. To experience it with intention, privacy, and effortless comfort is something else entirely. This is safari, elevated.
My connection to the African savannah runs deep. No matter where life takes me, it is the rhythm of those open plains—the stillness, the wildlife, the quiet sense of something greater—that continues to call me back.
Although now based in the U.S, my husband and I return to Kenya each year—drawn not only by its beauty, but by a sense of belonging that has never diminished. The landscapes, the culture, the people—they ground us, inspire us, and remind us of what truly matters.
Safi African Adventures was created from this continuity.
It is a reflection of a lifetime spent in and around the safari world, shaped by heritage, experience, and enduring relationships on the ground. East Africa has changed my life.
In 2014, I went on my first safari, and it completely redefined my world. Growing up with National Geographic magazines and Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom, I thought I knew what to expect—safari vehicles, savannahs, and iconic wildlife. In reality, nothing could have prepared me for the adventure that awaited. From the moment our twin-prop plane touched down on a dirt airstrip—narrowly missing three giraffes—I knew I was in a place unlike any other.
Over the next four days, I encountered animals and people in ways I could never have imagined—lions, elephants, cheetahs, rhinos, and even the elusive leopard. Ten years later, I still struggle to put into words the profound impact of that experience.
When I first met Nthenya, she spoke of her dream of sharing the safari experience. A year later, as we flew out of Kenya, I finally understood why. I now see the magic in her vision as we guide our guests through Kenya’s breathtaking landscapes, helping them discover what safari truly means.
Even after countless game drives, I’m still in awe of the unexpected moments and new lessons each journey brings. I can't wait to show you why Kenya has become one of my greatest passions.
